PowerDMX
PowerDMX was developed and first implemented in 2007 when preparing for 16-th International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazar” in Vitebsk, Belarus. The venue did not quite fit the technical demands of the coming show. There were very few DMX lines, no Ethernet on the site. No additional cables were permitted to be lain. Use of any wireless system was prohibited by the authorities. Therefore, we were challenged to use the only media available on the site - 220V powerline. In a shortest time, our R&D department developed PowerGate transceivers able to transmit DMX over 220V powerline. Use of PowerGates substantially upgraded the lighting facilities of the venue and ultimately saved the show.
As time has showed, such cases are not so rear: it might be color dynamic illumination of inviolable temples and ancient historical buildings, or just banal replacement of inground white light lamps installed in stone floor with color dynamic light fixtures. Overall, PowerDMX becomes most applicable for projects with constrained conditions for DMX transmission.
